I've spent the last 5 days in Nova Scotia and loved every minute of it. Halifax has that New England feel without all of the asshole Patriots fans--so its pretty nice. If you ever find yourself here I recommend eating at Salty's by the harbor. They have awesome views of the water from the patio and I had a religious experience with the chicken curry pasta.
If you like to drink you are in luck because there is a bar/pub every fifteen feet here in downtown Halifax. The adventurous partier should seek out "Club Dome" for a fun time. A scandalous place with a scandalous name. When it comes to beer I recommend Rickards Red. Its delicious and cheaper than Corona! When I say cheaper I mean still really fucking expensive. That's pretty much how it goes in Canada. Try not to faint when you have to shell out eight dollars for an ice cream cone.
Take a sunset cruise on one of the old tall ships for a great view of the city at night. There's something about being on a boat that puts my mind at ease. If you really need a place to zen-out and center your chi, drive to Peggy's Cove and sit out on the rocks. I could have watched the waves come crashing in all day. Its kind of a tourist trap but if you trek far enough you can find yourself a shoebie-free zone.
Speaking of boats I move on to the MV Explorer tomorrow! My journey has only just begun. Next stop: Spain. Tapas and sangria all day baby. I really am the luckiest person in the world. I don't have the right to complain about anything ever again. Farewell for now...my next post will be from across the pond. Wish me luck and lets hope I don't get seasick.
We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came. -- John F. Kennedy |
