Waiting to Leave

Hello everyone, this will be the travel blog for my Fall 2010 voyage of Semester at Sea. Words simply cannot describe the feelings of anticipation and excitement that I’m experiencing leading up to my departure. I’ve never wanted a summer to end so fast. I leave Colorado on August 22nd and will be chilling in Halifax until the 27th. Then I’m off into the wide blue yonder. I will try to keep this site updated with the goings-on on board the MV Explorer as well as my rabble-rousing in the various ports. Expect updates about the dank (face it, it’s a word now) food I eat and the cool people I meet. Posts will be short and sweet because I’m a busy man and internet on the ship is not cheap. I’ll post my good pics to the Picasa album on the left and videos to the YouTube channel above. Click on either to view everything I have posted so far. Once we push off from Halifax, I will post a link that lets you track the position of the ship. If you can’t see a ship icon on the map, that means we are in port. Hopefully, I can find the time to post an update at least once a week. You can keep in touch with me via Skype and email. Although I won’t check Facebook often, that works too. My next update will be from Canada. For now, I’ll be enjoying my final days in Boulder, Denver, and America in general. You can find me at Boulder Creek, Rockies games, Red Rocks, the Mile High Music Fest, Pearl street, and occasionally downtown.

I’ll end my first posting with a quote. Although horribly cliche, no Semester at Sea blog would be complete without this little ditty from the master of sentences himself:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain
